Dairy (summary)
Dairy foods contain calcium. This helps to keep your bones and teeth healthy and strong.
Dairy foods that have high amounts of calcium in them include:
- Milk.
- Cheese.
- Yoghurt.
- Fromage frais.
- Quark.
You should measure the amounts of dairy food that you eat. This is because they can be high in saturated fat. This can increase your weight. Dairy foods can also cause your cholesterol levels to go up.
You should choose lower-fat options, for example semi-skimmed milk and lower fat cheeses.
For non-dairy foods that are rich in calcium you could choose soya, oat, or almond milks. These often have calcium added to them.
